Just like Bush's other protected species, the telecoms, the State Department's passport contractor(s) are protected at all costs. Any of their potential illegal activities are shielded by Bush-run agencies and 'investigative' arms. By Lori Price 21 Mar 2008 Citizens for Legitimate Government (www.legitgov.org) is digging to find the contractor used by the Bureau of Public Affairs to learn which contractor's employees were fired and disciplined in the Barack Obama passport security breach. Two contractors that produce and issue passports for the US State Department are Stanley and Citigroup, but CLG is NOT stating that the employees of either of these two contractors were involved in the breach of the Obama passport security. Democrat Wants Answers on Obama Passport Breach --Senior House Dem Gives Monday Deadline to Know Identity of Firm Involved in Peeking at Obama's Passport Records 21 Mar 2008 A senior House Democrat wants to know the name of the as-yet-unnamed State Department contracting firm involved in illicitly peeking at Barack Obama's passport records. "I...believe this information should be made publicly available," wrote House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., in a letter today to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Waxman also asked Rice to identify the workers involved in the snooping. Congress gets involved in passport breaches 21 Mar 2008 The revelation that the passport files of all three of the leading presidential candidates have been breached is prompting Congress to consider whether to examine the State Departments oversight of sensitive personal information, according to congressional aides. AG: State Dept. didn't ask Justice Dept. to get involved in passport breach Stanley Awarded $570 Million Contract to Continue Support of Passport Program --Over 15-Year History of Providing Passport Services Continues 17 Mar 2008 Stanley, Inc., a leading provider of systems integration and professional services to the U.S. federal government, today announced that it was awarded a five-year, $570 million contract to continue support of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs/Passport Services Directorate. Services include production, operational and business process support training, procurement, administration and evaluation of critical supplies, and facilities management support at the four Passport Centers and 14 Passport Agencies nationwide along with the Headquarters' support offices. What does Stanley do for the Government? (justiceatstanley.org) All of Stanleys revenue (sales) comes from contracting with various agencies within the federal government. As of March 31, 2007, Stanley had two-hundred contracts with forty federal agencies, including Defense, State, Homeland Security, Health & Human Services, Treasury, NASA, and Justice. The Department of Defense is Stanley's largest customer overall, but its single biggest contract is with the State Department for the provision of passport processing and support services. Worker Dearth, Citi Blamed In Passport Mess 19 Jun 2006 Internal memos obtained by MSNBC.com show that the State Departments Office of Passport Services has for two years in a row waived requirements to keep error rates on new passports under 1 percent. In some cases, high error rates have been blamed on Citigroup, which now performs initial processing of all passport applications, according to a State Department memo viewed by MSNBC.com. 3 candidates' passport files breached 21 Mar 2008 The passport files of the three presidential candidates -- Sens. Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton and John McCain -- have been breached, the State Department said Friday. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said the breaches of McCain and Clinton's passport files were not 'discovered' until Friday, after [!?!] officials were made aware of the privacy violation regarding Obama's records and a separate search was conducted.
