Breaking: Senate Approves Surveillance Bill, Preserves Telecom
Immunity 12 Feb 2008 The Senate voted today to preserve retroactive
immunity from lawsuits for telecommunications companies that
cooperated with a [an illegal] government eavesdropping program,
decisively rejecting an amendment that would have stripped the
provision from the electronic surveillance law.

Senate OKs Immunity for Telecoms 12 Feb 2008 The Senate voted Tuesday
to shield from lawsuits telecommunications companies that helped
the government eavesdrop on their customers without court permission
after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
